We welcome up to a maximum of two well-behaved dogs to the cottages - subject to prior discussion and arrangement with their owners. We do not make a charge for dogs, but ask the owners to agree not to leave the dogs alone in the cottage, to bring the dog’s own bedding and towels and to take responsibility by not allowing dogs on the beds or furniture, to clear up after them outside (poop scoop and dustbin provided) and to use the vacuum cleaner provided to remove hair from the carpet before leaving. For those dogs used to a cage, if possible, it is a good idea to bring it with you.
We have always thought that the location of The Old Coastguards, with extensive garden and outstanding walks direct from you door, is such that it would be very hard for a dog owner to be staying here having left their dog(s) behind!
Obviously for everyone’s wellbeing we ask owners to avoid any inconvenience to other visitors: in practice we have found that the relationship between dogs and visitors is generally very good. Dogs really love it here. It is extraordinary how many of our visiting dogs apparently remember their holiday and become very excited as soon as they realise they are coming here again: frequently this becomes apparent a mile or more before they arrive here having recognised where they are!
Dogs are permitted here on the Chesil Beach here all year round. There is a shower room available in the Service Building where dogs may be given a warm shower if they have been in the sea or return muddy from a walk.
